Once upon a time, there lived a surgically-enhanced model called Jordan. For years she posed topless in tabloids and lad mags, becoming a fantasy figure for millions of men all over the land. Alas their wives and girlfriends had little time for the sexy provocateuse!

That is until February 2004, when Jordan appeared in the third of ITV's jungle reality series I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. In that environment, her sexy facade fell away, allowing millions of viewers to discover the girl behind Jordan: Katie Price. The romance that sparked between her and jungle bud Peter Andre, the 90s pop star, caught the public imagination. It was inevitable that they would feature in their very own docu-soap series, and I consider myself lucky to have been involved in its production.

I was offered the job of PD on the ITV1 show in September 2004, working for my old Carlton TV executive producer Nick Bullen who had just set up his own production company, Spun Gold TV. The venture was to be a collaboration with Katie and Peter's management company Can Associates, who had filmed nearly 100 hours of amateur Katie & Peter home movies since March 2004.

A decision was taken to use the majority of the back footage in the ITV2 episodes, which would be themed around different aspects of Katie and Peter's lives. This meant that new material featuring Katie and Peter would have to be filmed for the ITV1 series, allowing each episode to become a current, up-to-the-minute, self-contained story: an engagement dinner, a family cruise, or a murder mystery fancy dress party.

While the bulk of the new material was generated on mini-DV by AP shooters, there were several days of filming on multi-camera Digi-Beta which I directed, including visits to Thorpe Park and Disneyland Paris. I also directed the first few shoot days, which included the family dinner party at which Peter cooked Steak Jordania to celebrate his engagement to Katie. But the majority of my time was spent in post production, especially upon my promotion to Series Director for ITV2, during which time I worked with two fantastic editors.

Jane Greenwood and I constructed two of the six ITV1 episodes (#2: The Medium / The Murder Mystery Dinner; #5: The Ferrari / Christmas Lights), while Penny Heighes and I created ITV2 episodes 1, 6, 8 and 10, which include an assessment of Katie & Peter's style, plus a programme about Katie's son Harvey. You know what? I've enjoyed every single, sexy, controversial minute of it!
