Quotes from pre-recorded interviews with the production team of Die Another Day, and star vox-pops from premiere night.

Interviews by Julia Bradbury and Simon Harries.

Pierce Brosnan, on the premiere:

"This is a very special night, one for the record books...
I also think it's a very good movie, certainly
the best one I've done..."

Halle Berry, on the premiere:

"I feel like I'm at The Oscars, although I don't have the
nerves like I did that night, but it's as big as and
as elaborate as... I'm overwhelmed!"

Toby Stephens, on the fencing scene:

"I think Pierce and Madonna were equally strong!"

Rosamund Pike, on her debut shoot nerves:

"My first day was the scene with Judi Dench. Everyone
said that's a nice way to start. I kind of thought,
you wanna reckon?!"

Rick Yune

"I'm a bit nervous, you know? There's a bunch of rules
us Americans have to learn, especially being in front
of Her Majesty, but I'm very excited..."

Will Yun Lee

"This is like the superbowl!"

Roger Moore

"I'm surprised the Bond legacy continued after I started!"

George Lazenby

"I wish I'd done another two or three more Bonds. But
people haven't changed, they still like the same thing..."

Shirley Bassey

"A burst from Goldfinger? It'll cost you a fortune!"

Shirley Eaton

"My favourite Bond girl is Ursula Andress, but I think
we're all fans of each other, and Halle is just
something else..."

Maud Adams

"I love Roger, there's nothing bad to say about him, other than the fact that he's a real joker and sometimes he
went too far with all of us! But I adore the man..."

Lois Chiles

"I think we're all open-mouthed about it. None of us
can believe what an amazing phenomenon Bond is,
all over the world. Once you've been in a Bond, it's
incredible, the fans just go crazy about you..."

Fiona Fullerton

"Halle Berry is incredibly special, she's going to be a
good match for Ursula Andress. Pierce is my favourite
Bond, no question. He's sensational, don't you think?"

Burt Kwouk

"Like all egotistical actors, I have to say that my favourite
Bond was the one I was in... That was with Sean..."

Lindy Hemming

"I gave Pierce a linen suit which, for reasons we'll never
know, began to shrink the minute any water got near it.
He was going, 'Oh my God woman, what have you done
to me?!' It was like The Incredible Shrinking Man..."

David Arnold, on his composition for Icarus

"We figured that choir was the only thing that would be awesome enough, and I wanted them to be chanting something as it opens. What they're actually saying is,
'Look at the size of that umbrella', only backwards.
Because that's what it looks like..."

Vic Armstrong

"I always looked at the hovercraft chase as the
'Stagecoach' chase. I had the big hovercraft going
along, which was Moon's hovercraft.
The four ones going alongside it were the Indians,
if you like, coming alongside the stagecoach."

Chris Corbould

"We had to do a sequence where this laser from space is
sweeping across the DMZ, and so we did a series of
explosions coming towards camera, over a quarter of a
mile. Watching the crescendo of that coming towards
camera was just wonderful."

Michael G. Wilson

"My favourite Bond film is Goldfinger. Gert Frobe, you know? His Goldfinger is just a classic villain."

Lee Tamahori

"We wanted to create what I keep referring to as the great
old Lewis Gilbert era of expansive Bond movies, and it was
great fun to place a lot of twenty-first century action on
top of what is effectively a good old-fashioned Cold War
spy thriller."
